It was supposed to be a joyous day. Amelia had just finished a difficult exam, and the scholarship news was the perfect reward. The email, however, was a bomb, detonating her hopes. The scholarship was misallocated. She wasn’t the intended recipient.

She felt a sharp, stabbing sensation in her chest, a physical manifestation of the blow. The campus, usually a source of inspiration and excitement, suddenly felt hostile, its vibrant energy now something she couldn't share. She felt exposed, vulnerable.

She walked, not knowing where she was going, the bustling student life around her a painful reminder of what she might lose. The weight of her circumstances had her wanting to crawl into a hole.
