He pressed his back against the cool metal of the elevator, trying to find some semblance of comfort. His chest felt constricted, as if a weight was pressing down on him. Three hours. Trapped. With her. He didn’t want to look at her, but still, he found himself glancing her way.

His hands were clenched into fists, the nails digging into his palms. The silence was deafening. He thought back to their conversation from earlier in the day. Each word, each gesture, felt like a painful reminder.
