Gemotions

He sat on the edge of the bed, the eviction notice resting limply in his lap. He felt numb. His mind was a blank slate, devoid of any thought or emotion. He simply stared, unseeing, at the familiar patterns of the carpet.

His body felt heavy, his limbs leaden. He couldn't seem to muster the energy to move, to act. Time seemed to stretch and distort, each second an eternity. He felt as though he was slowly sinking into the mattress.

The shadows lengthened in the room, casting a pall over everything. The world outside the window seemed distant, unreal. He was adrift, lost in a sea of despair, with no shore in sight.
