Gemotions

The scent of roasting chicken in the oven, usually so comforting, now seemed cloying to Michael. His wife, Diane, was humming in the kitchen, oblivious to the storm brewing in his heart. He’d discovered the account, and the betrayal hung heavy in the air.

He moved into the living room, collapsing onto the sofa, the cushions doing little to cushion his emotions. He thought of all the shared expenses, all the sacrifices they'd made. He had the feeling that he was nothing more than an accessory, a supporting character in his own life.
