The discovery came late one night, while Emily was searching for a pen. Amongst John's papers, she found a draft manuscript. The title, "The Ghost of Amelia," intrigued her. The first page contained a detailed description of her, but it wasn't flattering.

She read on, her eyes widening. The protagonist, named Amelia, was depicted as a shallow, materialistic woman. The story chronicled a series of increasingly frustrating interactions between her and the male lead. A feeling of dread crept through her.

She carefully put the manuscript back, as if she hadn't touched it. The rest of the night she couldn't sleep. The air in the bedroom felt thick and heavy. The next morning, she cooked breakfast in silence, her movements stiff and deliberate, her gaze locked on the cereal bowl.
