Gemotions

The dust was the worst. It swirled through the air, settling on everything. It coated the windowsills, the furniture, her skin. Anna had barely opened the blinds and already felt the grit on her teeth. She rubbed her eyes. They stung.

Her breath came in ragged gasps. The constant thudding, the incessant hammering, was driving her mad. She felt a burning sensation in her chest. She grabbed her phone, her fingers trembling as she dialed her husband's number. She heard the construction from the phone.

“I can’t…” she choked out, before the line went dead. She slammed the phone down and then stared at it, frozen. Her vision blurred.
