Gemotions

The sun was shining, but the world was dark. The drilling was the worst, the way it clawed at her brain. Laura felt a pressure in her head, as if it was about to burst. Her hands were clammy. She pressed her palms against her ears, but it didn't help. It only amplified the vibrations.

She slumped onto the sofa, curling into a ball. She wanted to disappear, to vanish from the face of the earth. She took a deep, shuddering breath. The walls seemed to be closing in.

She scrambled up and grabbed her keys. She didn't know where she was going, but she had to go somewhere. Anywhere.
