Gemotions

The world tilted on its axis, and she felt a wave of nausea. The air in the shop thickened, became hard to draw into her lungs. She stumbled backwards, her legs feeling like jelly. The ring, so familiar yet so distant in the glass case, seemed to shimmer before her eyes. Every single thing in the world suddenly seemed too much, pressing down on her. The faces of the other customers blurred into indistinguishable shapes. She wanted to scream, to shatter the silence, but no sound escaped her throat. She gripped her own arms, almost desperately, as if trying to hold herself together.
