The notification. "Outside your window, now." She felt her breath catch in her throat, a sharp intake of air. She scrambled to the window, her hands shaking as she pulled back the curtain. Her eyes darted around the street below, searching. A wave of dizziness washed over her, and she felt her knees buckle. She clutched the sill, her knuckles white.

She felt a strange mixture of excitement and dread. She felt like she might be sick. She felt hot and cold at the same time. Her mouth was dry. She ran to the door and quickly opened it.

The street. The world tilted and she leaned against the doorframe for a moment to catch her breath.
