The weight of it all settled on her shoulders the moment she saw the house. The sight of it was enough. She had to take several deep breaths before opening the car door. She didn’t know how she was going to survive this.

Inside, the house felt too small, too close. Her mother’s cheerful greetings sounded like a threat. The familiar furniture, the familiar smells, everything was oppressive. She felt a growing pressure building inside, like a balloon about to burst.

Later, alone in her old room, she sank onto the bed, staring at the ceiling. The world around her seemed to tilt and sway. She curled up, pulling her knees to her chest, trying to find some form of comfort. The feeling inside, a whirlwind of chaos, continued, relentless and overwhelming.
