He slammed his fist against the steering wheel, the horn blaring a mournful sound in the quiet morning. “Unbelievable!” he choked out, his voice thick. Sweat beaded on his forehead, a cold cascade down his temples. The tow truck operator, a young woman with a bored expression, was already attaching the hook. He stumbled out of the car, hands trembling, and fumbled for his phone, his fingers too clumsy to dial. It was his grandmother's car. He promised to take her shopping. She needed medicine.
