The silence of the garage was almost deafening. Robert felt his chest tighten. His mother had saved everything. Every single assignment. It was as if she'd been expecting… something.

He scanned the papers, his eyes darting from one page to another. The sheer weight of it, the accumulation of years of schoolwork, was almost crushing.

He gripped the edge of the box, his knuckles white. The past, once distant, now seemed to press in on him, suffocating him. He felt as though the world was closing in.

He slammed the box shut, the sound echoing in the empty space. He took a staggering step backwards and had to lean against the wall to stay upright.
