It was the culmination of years of work. The data, the analysis, the meticulous research. Now, it was being presented by someone else. A wave of heat washed over him, followed by a bone-chilling cold. He felt as if he were underwater, struggling to breathe.

He gripped the edge of the table so tightly that his nails dug into the wood. His vision blurred, and the room started to spin. He stumbled back, his legs weak.

He needed to get away, to escape the suffocating reality of what had just happened. He threw open the front door and ran, not knowing where he was going, just needing to be far, far away.
