Gemotions

The scent of freshly cut grass and the murmur of conversation swirled around him, but all Jamie could focus on was *Mr. Floppy,* sitting on the ground beside a box of other discarded items. His chest constricted. He felt the blood drain from his face, leaving him cold and clammy.

He took a shaky step forward, his legs suddenly weak and unreliable. His vision blurred, and the sounds around him faded. He could hear a ringing in his ears. His hands trembled so violently he could barely hold himself up. He needed to get away, to disappear.

"How much?" he asked, his voice almost lost in the din.

"Three dollars."

He couldn't get away fast enough.
