Gemotions

He’d always felt a current of unease in this house, a prickling sensation at the back of his neck. Now, standing before the newly revealed doorway behind the bookcase in his study, that feeling became a roaring bonfire in his chest. His hands trembled so violently he could barely keep the flashlight pointed in the right direction. He had to be dreaming. This couldn't be real.

His throat felt tight, as if a vise was clamping down. He swallowed hard, trying to regain some semblance of composure. "Hello?" he croaked, his voice cracking, the word swallowed by the oppressive silence. The musty smell that drifted from the opening was overwhelming, a mixture of mold and something else… something metallic. He could practically feel the blood rushing in his ears.

He forced himself forward, one hesitant step at a time. Each creak of the floorboards, each shift of the light, seemed to amplify the growing sense of dread. The air felt thick, heavy with an unseen presence. He needed to get out, he needed to understand. He had to know what lurked within that dark space.
