Gemotions

It wasn't supposed to be there. The blueprints didn't show it. The previous owners hadn't mentioned it. But there it was: a dark, rectangular void behind the master bedroom closet. Her stomach lurched. The hair on her arms stood on end. A cold tremor ran through her, leaving her feeling utterly drained.

She backed away slowly, her eyes wide, refusing to break her gaze. Each breath came in shallow, frantic gasps. Her hands, clammy and trembling, clutched at the fabric of her shirt. She could taste the metallic tang of fear in her mouth.

The silence was deafening, broken only by the frantic pounding of her own heart. She felt a growing sense of panic, a desperate need to escape. She couldn't stay here. She wouldn't. This house, her new home, was suddenly a cage.
