Gemotions

The old, leather-bound book tumbled from the shelf, striking the wall. Behind it, a hidden door. A wave of nausea washed over her. She pressed a hand to her mouth, stifling a sound that threatened to escape. Her heart was a trapped bird, beating wildly against her ribs.

Her eyes darted around, searching for an escape route, as if the room itself were a predator. A strange buzzing filled her ears, and the world seemed to tilt. Her hands trembled so violently she could barely feel them. She felt a wave of dizziness, and she swayed unsteadily.

She had to breathe, but the air felt thin and cold. She stumbled backward, her legs giving way beneath her. She sank to the floor, her body racked with tremors. The dark space beckoned, promising nothing but fear and the unknown. She squeezed her eyes shut, hoping to make it all disappear.
