The words blurred before Maya's eyes as she scanned the open page. Her breath hitched. Her stomach churned. It *was* her journal, the one she’d sworn to keep private. Liam, her roommate, sat on his bed, pretending to study, but the small smirk playing on his lips gave him away. "Liam," she choked out, her voice barely a whisper. Her hands were trembling so badly she could hardly close the book. The room felt suddenly too small, the air thick with something toxic. She felt as though the very walls were closing in on her.
