The letter emerged from an old shoebox, buried amongst childhood treasures. Her hands trembled as she unfolded the fragile paper. The handwriting, so familiar, so young, was her own. It was addressed to her best friend, a friend she'd long since lost touch with.

"…I'm losing my mind," the letter read, the words a stark reminder of a past self. She felt a chill crawl up her spine. Her breath hitched, and she struggled to maintain composure.

Her heart pounded in her chest, a relentless drumbeat that threatened to burst. The room seemed to tilt, the world blurring at the edges. She stumbled towards the window, gasping for air, her throat tight with unshed tears.
