He slammed the phone down on the counter, the force making the coffee mugs rattle in the cupboard. Every muscle in his body felt wound tight, like a spring ready to snap. The words, so casually typed, so carelessly sent, swam before his eyes. He clawed at his hair, tugging at the strands, a low groan escaping his lips. He imagined *her* reaction, the look on her face. A vein throbbed in his temple. He needed to *fix* it. He grabbed his coat, fumbling with the buttons, his hands trembling so badly he could barely get them closed.
