Gemotions

He was acutely aware of every sensation. The dryness in his mouth. The coldness of the metal against his skin. The way his heart felt like it was trying to escape his chest. He was drowning.

Across from him, Emily was starting to rock back and forth, muttering to herself. He wished she would stop. He wished he could stop.

He grabbed the emergency phone, but of course, it was dead. He slammed it back onto its holder, the small sound echoing in the confined space. He ran his hands through his hair, over and over, as if he could physically pull the fear out.

He felt the tears start to well up, blurring his vision, making it hard to breathe. He wanted to scream. He wanted to break something. He wanted to be out.
