Gemotions

The announcement caused a sudden, sharp pain in Robert's chest. He felt as though someone had punched him in the gut. He could not think clearly. The world was spinning, and everything seemed far away.

He felt the familiar sting behind his eyes. He squeezed them shut, trying to fight the emotion. He pictured the meeting, the scrutiny, the judgment. He did not feel prepared. He felt the urge to throw up.

He pushed his chair back, the sound of the wheels screeching against the floor. He quickly rushed to the restroom, needing to escape the suffocating atmosphere of the office. He leaned against the cool tile wall, trying to catch his breath.
