Gemotions

She dropped the letter on the floor, the thin paper barely making a sound against the hardwood. The world narrowed to the confines of her living room. Her chest rose and fell rapidly, each breath a struggle. Her fingers dug into her palms, leaving angry red crescents.

She started pacing, her footsteps echoing in the sudden silence of the house. The familiar scent of her own perfume became a suffocating shroud. Her vision swam. She clawed at her throat as if to release something trapped within.

The walls seemed to close in, the air growing thick and hard to breathe. Her mind raced, a runaway train derailing from its tracks. She wanted to scream, to shatter the stillness, but no sound would come. She sank to the floor, her body trembling uncontrollably.
