Gemotions

He saw the letter on his desk as he came back from lunch. He knew instantly what it was, even before he picked it up. His stomach clenched. He slowly walked toward his desk, each step heavy. He felt his face grow hot, and he thought he was going to throw up.

He managed to sit down, the chair offering no comfort. He forced himself to open the envelope, but his eyes would not focus. He felt a terrible pressure behind his eyes, a feeling of being crushed.

He stood up, shoving his chair back. He began to pace. He stopped, suddenly, and slammed his fist down on the desk, the impact sending a jolt through his arm. He wanted to shout, but only a strangled sound escaped his throat.
