Gemotions

The wind howled, mimicking the sound echoing in her ears. She hadn't expected this. Not after all this time. She touched the smooth scar of the stump, then jerked her hand away, as if burned. A shudder ran through her, shaking her from head to toe. Tears streamed down her face, the salt stinging her eyes. She wanted to scream, to lash out, to rip the earth apart with her bare hands. She clenched her fists until her knuckles were white. Her breath came in ragged gasps. The silence was deafening.
