The room was tilting. Michael felt a strange tingling in his fingertips as he scrolled through the listing. It felt like everything he knew was dissolving, like sand through his fingers.

He stood and walked around the room, trying to force himself to focus. Each picture of the house was a punch to the gut. The new hardwood floors in the living room – the same living room where he’d played board games with his family every weekend.

He needed to get away, to disappear. But every direction he looked, the walls seemed to be closing in. He sat down and held his head in his hands.
