Gemotions

The phone dropped from John’s grasp, clattering onto the hardwood floor. He stared at it, unmoving, as the detective’s voice, laced with grim details, faded into the silence. A tight band constricted his chest, making it difficult to breathe. He felt a wild, frantic urge to tear things apart, to scream, to lash out.

He stumbled backwards, knocking over a lamp. The sudden crash jolted him, but the shock didn't break the feeling. The walls seemed to be closing in. He felt a pressure in his skull and a buzzing in his ears.

His own home, the place he had deemed safe, now felt like a cage. He couldn’t be here. He had to escape, to run, to… just get away.
