Gemotions

“Dad… you…” Emily stammered, the words dissolving into a jumble of incoherent sounds. She sat on the edge of the hospital bed, her father’s words echoing in her ears. A daughter. Another daughter. The room swam into view and then out again. She couldn't focus. She felt the urge to jump off the bed. She couldn’t sit still. Her hands fidgeted and trembled uncontrollably. Tears stung her eyes, blurring the already indistinct image of her father. She felt like she wanted to scream, to lash out, to rip the hospital room to shreds.
