He slammed the door to his dorm room, the sound echoing through the small space. His roommate, Mark, jumped, startled. "Dude, what's wrong?" he asked, a wary look on his face.

James just paced, back and forth, like a caged animal. His hands were clenched into fists, knuckles white. The air felt thick, heavy, like it was pressing down on his chest. His heart hammered against his ribs, a frantic drumbeat in his ears.

He ran a hand through his hair, tugging at the strands. "They're shutting it down," he choked out, his voice barely audible. "The whole damn school. All of it." He needed to do something, anything. He didn't want to think about what this meant.

"Woah, woah," Mark said, trying to soothe him, "What are you even talking about? Tell me."
