Gemotions

The roses lay on the passenger seat of her car, a splash of red against the worn leather. She knew she should just throw them away, but she couldn't. It felt too final. The lack of a message, the not knowing, consumed her thoughts. Who? Why? What did it all mean?

She gripped the steering wheel so tightly her knuckles went white. She wanted to scream, to lash out, to do anything to break the suffocating silence. She took a deep breath, and counted to ten, but her pulse would not slow down. She started the car, but didn't know where to go.
