"Swim with sharks." The words swam before her eyes. Sarah reread the list, each entry a knife twist. "See the pyramids." Her vision blurred. "Go to space." She felt lightheaded, as if she were floating, detached from her body. She slammed the notebook shut, the sound echoing in the otherwise quiet apartment.

She had to get out. She didn't trust herself to stay. She pulled on her shoes, her hands fumbling with the laces. The world seemed to be closing in around her, the walls of the apartment shrinking. She ran to the door, flinging it open.

The sudden rush of cool air did little to help. She stumbled into the street, barely noticing the passing cars. The world was a blur of colors and sounds, a symphony of chaos. Her mind raced, a runaway train.
