The car ride felt like an eternity. Dad had just dropped the news about his conversion to Judaism, and now he was attempting to explain the nuances of the Kabbalah to his teenage daughter, Chloe. She stared out the window, watching the blur of passing trees. Her jaw was clenched. He'd been talking for ten minutes straight. Chloe tapped her fingers against the cold glass.
