The meeting was dragging. Sarah kept tapping her pen against the mahogany table, the rhythmic click echoing in the hushed boardroom. Her gaze flitted between the speaker’s droning voice and the clock on the wall. Each tick felt like an eternity. She needed to get home. Her niece, Lily, had drawn another picture, this one depicting a creature with mismatched eyes and a jaunty hat. The same creature. The creature from Sarah’s own childhood imaginings. The thought of Lily's next drawing, and the secret it held, was making her restless.
