"Will you look at this," Jeremy muttered, staring at the dust cloud billowing from the property line. He checked the time on his phone, then quickly put it away. He had errands to run, a schedule to maintain. The demolition next door was threatening all of it.

His fingers drummed a rhythm on the steering wheel as he drove. He felt a pressure in his chest. He felt like he was running out of time. He turned the radio up, then down, then off. The silence was almost worse. He would be late to everything.
