“You’re a natural on the offensive line,” the football coach boomed. Marcus, however, felt a cold wave of disappointment wash over him. He was a running back. He loved the freedom, the speed, the direct contact. He was stuck here for a while. This felt like a setback. His hands tightened into fists.

The other players, their hulking frames a stark contrast to his smaller, quicker build, started their drills. Marcus watched, his gaze darting between the formations, looking for an opening, a moment to make a change. He took a deep breath, the air thick with the smell of grass and sweat. This was not where he was meant to be. He did not know how long he could bear this.
