Gemotions

A bead of sweat trickled down Maya's temple. She was already late. The gallery showing started in twenty minutes, and she was going to be the last one there, again. She wrenched at the door handle, her knuckles white. Locked. She had a key, of course, but the click was taking too long.

She saw the tow truck creeping down the street. It was moving at a snail's pace, or so it seemed. The engine growled, a low, menacing rumble. She nearly ran outside to wave it down, but she had to get inside first.

She fumbled with the key, her fingers clumsy and unresponsive. She cursed under her breath. When she finally got the door open, she was met with an empty space where her car used to be. The tow truck was gone.
