Gemotions

The sun beat down on Amelia’s face, making her skin prickle with heat. She swatted away a fly, her movements jerky with a rising inner tension. The beach was crowded, noisy, and everything she was trying to avoid. She wanted to finish this discussion with Ben and go home.

"I distinctly remember us building a sandcastle with a tower!" she said, her voice rising slightly.

Ben chuckled. "Amelia, darling, we were maybe seven years old. We were digging a hole."

Amelia crossed her arms, a knot forming in her stomach. “I clearly recall that we built a castle, it was magnificent." She really wanted to stop arguing and go, go, go.
