"Come on, come on," she whispered, her voice barely audible. The house had felt wrong from the moment she walked through the door. Now, two weeks later, she was sure of it. She couldn't shake the feeling. She had to find it.

She’d spent the morning in the master bathroom. She inspected the tilework, the mirrors, the plumbing. Everything was ordinary, too clean. Then, she noticed a faint discoloration in the tile behind the shower head. She tapped the tiles. One sounded hollow. She pulled it loose.

Her fingers scrabbled for purchase in the dark opening. She wanted to be the first to know what was hidden there. Immediately.
