The aroma of freshly baked bread filled the bakery, but for Thomas, it offered no comfort. He'd been battling the urge to scream all day. "Grandma’s Secret Sourdough," his family's pride and joy, had resurfaced as "The Alpine Loaf" in a popular cookbook, and he was livid.

He scrubbed furiously at the countertop, his movements sharp and erratic. The dough, usually a source of pleasure, felt like a burden. He couldn’t shake the image of the other baker, basking in the glory of something that was rightfully his. He needed to do something, anything, to release the tension that had gripped him since the moment he saw the recipe.

His eyes darted from the counter to the phone. He had to call a lawyer.
