Gemotions

The air felt thick, heavy with the scent of summer and impending loss. Ben ran a hand through his hair, ruffling the strands. He kept glancing at the street, expecting to see a huge truck turn the corner at any moment. The stillness of the morning was grating. He wanted to be done with this. This whole process of saying goodbye to his memories. His stomach twisted with a familiar knot of unease. He shifted his weight, and then, without thinking, kicked a small stone across the cracked pavement.
