Gemotions

He glared at the empty street. The sun was rising higher in the sky, casting long shadows that stretched and distorted the familiar landscape. Every shadow seemed to mock him. He pulled his phone from his pocket again, the screen reflecting his impatient face. He hated delays. He wanted to be done with this. The house, his childhood home, sat behind him, a constant reminder of the past. He tapped the screen, checking for a missed call, a text message, anything.

The silence was excruciating.
