Gemotions

The email notification chimed, the sound slicing through Thomas’s focus. He clicked it open, a knot forming in his stomach. Another rejection. His voice recognition software, already patented. He slumped in his chair, the life drained from him.

He pushed back from his desk, the wheels of his chair scraping against the floor. He felt a sudden, sharp ache in his jaw. He got up and walked into the kitchen, the slow movement a mockery of his normal energy. He grabbed a glass of water and drank it down in one long gulp, the cold liquid doing little to soothe the heat bubbling inside.

He wanted to scream. The injustice of it all, the audacity of the world to deny him what he felt was rightly his. He threw the glass into the sink.
