The phone rang, and she snatched it up before the second ring could finish. It was her advisor. "Come to my office right now," the advisor said. Her voice sounded strained. “There's been a mix-up.” Sarah hung up the phone. She slammed her hand against the wall. She was filled with a sudden, overwhelming urge to shatter something. The air in her small apartment felt oppressive, too close, too still. She grabbed her coat, not even bothering to look in the mirror before leaving. The walk would be fast.
