Gemotions

The kettle whistled, a shrill sound that grated on David's nerves. He hadn't even had his tea yet, but he was already moving about the kitchen, his feet tapping against the linoleum. He found the letter tucked within a box of his old college textbooks. It was from his younger self, addressed to his future self.

He read the first line, then the second. He sighed, the sound sharp. He didn't want to read it now, he needed to get to work. He crumpled the paper, then stopped. He smoothed it out, a wave of weariness spreading over him. He started reading again.
