Gemotions

"Ugh, this is ridiculous," Ben grumbled. He crossed his arms, the action stiff and forceful. He had planned to go to the gym after work. Now, the thought of missing his workout fueled his anger. He hadn't worked out in three days because of a cold, and he was ready to smash some weights.

He checked his phone again, the screen blank. He paced the small area, his steps rapid and restless. The other person in the elevator, a woman he knew as Susan, kept trying to make small talk. He offered monosyllabic replies and curt nods.

His leg bounced uncontrollably. He grabbed the handle on the railing and began testing its strength. He had a date scheduled, and now he was going to be late. He pressed the emergency button again, his thumb lingering on the plastic. What could possibly be taking them so long?
