Gemotions

A tremor ran through Susan's hand as she reached for her coffee cup. The warmth did little to soothe the growing unease in her stomach. The tree. It was still there. The neighbors, the workers, they were late. She’d been waiting for hours.

She sighed, a frustrated puff of air. The delay meant she would miss her morning walk, the one thing that had been keeping her sane. She would miss her doctor's appointment. She leaned closer to the window, the image of the fallen tree a constant, nagging reminder.

She tapped her fingers against the table, a rapid, nervous tic. She wanted it gone.
