Sweat beaded on Sarah’s forehead. The air in the dusty attic felt thick, clinging to her like a shroud. She ripped another moth-eaten sheet from a piece of furniture. Where was it? The envelope, the letter, the proof she was supposed to get? Her brother, Ben, had disappeared hours ago, leaving her alone with the task. She felt her chest tighten. She was supposed to get the family bakery, the recipes passed down through generations. He’d get… something else. Something she didn’t know. This slow process made her nails dig into her palms.

The setting sun cast long, dancing shadows, making it difficult to see. "Ben!" she finally yelled, her voice strained. Her patience felt like it was wearing thin.
