Gemotions

The late afternoon sun cast long shadows across the empty classroom. Sarah tapped her pen against the worn wooden desk, the rhythmic clicking echoing in the stillness. A package, haphazardly wrapped in brown paper, sat on the corner of her desk. It had been there since the morning, and the absence of any indication of its contents was beginning to grate on her. She glanced at the clock again. Five minutes until the end of her planning period. Surely, the sender would have the decency to include a note, a clue!

She rose, pacing the small space between the whiteboard and the bookshelf. Her fingers itched to tear it open, but a sense of decorum, and perhaps a desire to prolong the mystery, held her back. The bell rang, and she jumped, startled by the sudden clamor. Students swarmed in, and Sarah knew she'd have to wait.
