The lawyer’s office was stifling, the air thick with the scent of old paper and suppressed annoyance. Liam ran a hand through his already dishevelled hair. He had been waiting for over an hour, surrounded by polished wood and the weighty silence of impending legal battles.

He tapped his foot against the expensive Persian rug. He wanted to leave, just walk out and handle things himself. The thought of waiting any longer was completely unappealing.

A secretary finally beckoned him towards the inner sanctum. He stood and straightened his jacket, every muscle coiled, ready for action.
