The results were posted online. Sarah refreshed the page, the loading icon mocking her. She had spent hours perfecting her final project, sacrificing sleep, social life, everything. Finally, the page loaded, the grade a stark, undeniable ‘B-’. A wave of disappointment washed over her, followed by something akin to fury. She grabbed her phone, her thumb hovering over the number of her best friend. The message she typed was curt, clipped, filled with frustration. She deleted the draft, and then composed an email to the professor, the words sharp, demanding, and almost disrespectful. She deleted that too, the frustration churning in her gut.
